Conspiracy theories come and go. There is usually some element of truth in them or else they would never get off the ground. Sometimes though, people's imaginations run amok with fictitious notions and elements of truth get discredited and discarded.
What we have now, right across the globe, is two opposing conspiracy theories happening at the same time. This is dangerous. There is Conspiracy Theory A and Conspiracy Theory B.
Conspiracy Theory A
This is the belief that a small number of wealthy elite control the world: the global economy, technology, information, education, healthcare and global finances - and that these elites are making use of, or have created, a global virus to justify global lockdowns. The global lockdowns further assert their authority, control and increase their wealth. Digital identification and travel passports will solidify their absolute control over civilisation. Those who comply or offer their skills to further this agenda are rewarded. Dissenting voices are censored, penalised in the workplace and have their liberties restricted.
Conspiracy Theory B
This is the belief that God or the Mother of Nature, or both, have inflicted a plague upon civilisation and that the only way to address this plague (worst ever global virus/flu) is to tackle it head-on. By using modern technology, science, medical intervention and by shutting down global economy they can save lives. Wealthy global corporations and governments, bolstered by such renowned benevolent institutions as the Bill Gates Foundation and the Tony Blair Institute, have joined together in the battle to save civilisation.
It is not the first time that two opposing conspiracy theories have clashed. One example would be the Iraq War of 2003 which was promoted by the US government, under George W Bush, and the UK Government, under Tony Blair. The conspiracy theory here was that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction which could be a threat to civilisation.
The counter conspiracy theory was that Western governments were pretending there was such lethal weaponry in Iraq to justify advancing their powers in this oil-rich region.
The result was a war that led to other wars in the region with thousands of lives being lost. It also resulted in a deeper sense of mistrust in Western powers.
Such conspiracy clashes have existed throughout history with devastating effects. The 20th Century saw such a clash in Europe. One theory claimed that the Nazi's were dangerous power-mongers who were a threat to civilisation. This theory was believed and supported by a large number of people.
At the same time the Nazi's had another theory that the Jews were a threat to civilisation and this was also believed and supported by a large number of people.
The result was a world war and a holocaust at the same time.
Some would claim that this present clash of conspiracy is even more serious as it involves the entire globe: in this age of modern communication and interconnected global power. It is also the case that we are all caught-up in it, whether we like it or not. If we decide to stay in the house and do nothing or go out without wearing a mask we will automatically be ticked off for one box or the other and labelled accordingly.
The only people who might escape this are nomadic tribes in more remote parts of the world. They might not even know this is all going on. They might not be aware how lucky they are.
For those who are hoping that this is all just a bad dream, that both A and B are not true and life will get back to normal soon: the best you can do is say as little as possible and don't tell anyone, other that close trusted friends, what you do or don't do. And whatever you do – do not write a blog about it.
